Prenatal Pilates

Benefits of appropriate Prenatal Pilates

Strengthens the ability of, and the connection to, the pelvic floor muscles

  • enabling the body to support both the organs of the lower   abdominal cavity and the growing weight of the baby
  • reducing the risk of incontinence and prolapse
  • developing the ability to 'let go of' the pelvic floor muscles
  • Muscles will be stronger yet flexible, a benefit for both labour and birth

Strengthens the deeper abdominal muscles to combat exaggerated abdominal separation

Strengthens the stabilising muscles in order to reduce pain and discomfort

Mobilises the ribcage and facilitates deeper breathing

Safely maintains and improves muscle tone

Increases energy levels and enhances mental well-being

Sometimes learning 'what not to do' is as important as learning 'what to do'

Anna's prenatal training has been invaluable during my pregnancy as her understanding of how to modify stretches to suit each trimester has allowed me to feel physically healthy and fit even as my pregnancy progressed. I felt confident knowing the correct form for certain movements and what not to do as I grew. Especially helpful has been learning how to build pelvic floor strength, something I have been able to do for myself everyday.

Kimberley

I started antenatal Pilates with Anna when I was 28 weeks pregnant to strengthen my core and pelvic floor. Anna took the time to understand my goals, and provided appropriate and clear instruction for my level of fitness. The exercises she provided helped me during pregnancy to feel strong physically and mentally, and were particularly beneficial in managing incontinence. I also felt equipped to continue the exercises to aid in my recovery postpartum. I would highly recommend antenatal with Anna
